Starts making music at the age of 14 in the punk scene of the 90s and later in modern Portuguese music. Graduated and post-graduated in Portuguese Language and Culture by the Escola Superior de Letras of the University of Lisbon.
Self-taught in the area of cinema since 2000, year of the foundation of the Cinema and Video Club of his University, where he is responsible for the film and video production programme for 6 years. From 2005 he abandons the academic teaching profession and dedicates himself entirely to cinema, production and music.
His documentary films, deeply personal, are the creative record of his pilgrimage through insular and maritime territories.
Awarded author of 4 documentary feature films, 4 short films, videoinstallations and video clips. His films have been screened all over the world, in festivals such as Locarno Film Festival, Viennale, Bafici, Jeonju, San Francisco Film Festival, Vancouver, Rotterdam, CPH:DOX and in theaters in USA such as Anthology Film Archives and Museum of Moving Image and MoMA.
