Professor Raquel Soeiro de Brito, a geographer who was part of the scientific mission of the Center for Geographical Studies of the University of Lisbon and who went there in 1957 and 1958 to study the eruption of the Capelinhos Volcano, returned to Capelo and to the house where she lived at the time, the so-called Casa da Missão. This return and stay of Prof. Raquel in Capelinhos had its high point on October 2 (Saturday) afternoon with a public meeting and conversation between Prof. Raquel and the island's population in the cistern of the Casa da Missão, during which her film Erupção nos Capelinhos was shown, with commentary by Prof. Raquel herself.
Prof. Raquel's return and stay in the Capelinhos was marked by an exhibition cycle of her photographic collection, shown at the Casa de Artesanato do Capelo and the Camarupa Gallery in Horta. At Casa da Missão, several video installations by Gonçalo Tocha were available to the public for a month, recording Prof. Raquel's return to the Capelinhos.
